I’m in love with Alvaro’s olive bread! I like to toast it like garlic bread with a little bit of cheese. Wonderful!

Alvaro’s is one of the greatest finds in the City! It is like visiting
Little Italy! These folks deserve a medal for being pioneers in a neighhborhood that has undergone an Urban Renaissance!
Their meatball subs are the best, and their cookies are superb.

Little Italy indeeed, on a summer or lovely fall afternoon for lunch– their pastas, caprese salads and Italian cured meats, pastas — it’s all superb. My weakness is the pistachio gelato– or maybe the chocolate? – and the fudge cookies.

This place has awesome italian cookies! Well worth the cost. The also have great inexpensive Italian take out. Pizza as big as 2 slices fir $2.50 and the other basic pasta dishes. Small place so take it to go!

Yummy Italian cookies, to-die-for gelato (pick a flavor, they’re all fantastic!), incredible vegetarian meals (stuffed eggplant that melts in your mouth!), crusty Tuscano bread…what’s not to love about Alvaro? The only problem is forcing myself to NOT go there every day for lunch and dinner. And the best part? Sal and Lina, who make it all happen. Love love love this place!

We’ve been going to Alvaro’s for several years now. It’s one of the Burg’s best kept secrets. The chicken parm and eggplant rollatini are to die for. The whole family is wonderful – you feel like you’ve been invited into someone’s kitchen. Try the espresso gelato and the amaretti cookies!

My husband and I liked our dinner there, but we weren’t overly impressed with it. The desserts, however, reminded us of Vaccaro’s in Baltimore’s Little Italy! The gelato was delicious, and the portion was big enough to split. My husband got the cannoli cake, and was blown away. We’ve definitely enjoyed their sweets, highly recommend them!
