"If you go with the flow of the after-work rush of North Second Street, you may miss the newest addition to Midtown's food scene. However, this cafe, Flow Buffet Café, is worth a double-take. Newly-opened and already filled with customers, Flow Buffet promises affordable quality food in an intimate setting with a twist to the concept of "neighborhood."

Merging the food industry's two hottest concepts, the restaurant's name explains it all. The restaurant is simultaneously a café--decorated with the warm colors of red and gold and sporting dark wood tables and cozy booths--and a chef-created, three-course buffet, with a constantly changing lunch and dinner menu."

"Giuseppe "Joe" Barone, owner of nearly 30 thriving pizzerias in south-central Pennsylvania, opened Brother's Pizzeria and Restaurant on the corner of Third and Reily during the week of June 1, along with Luigi Ambrosino.

Its large glass windows conveniently facing Midtown's HACC campus--perhaps to tempt hungry students during class--this pizzeria showcases an extensive menu, an extremely friendly staff, and a brightly-lit, artistic interior."

Before beer was served in plastic cups to pulsing music, there were pubs—small, intimate bars where the light was dim and the laughter was strong. Garrison’s Tavern on Forrester Street is one of these classic neighborhood bars.

Just a couple blocks away from the dizzying scene of Second Street, Garrison’s is a world of its own. Characterized by its dark wood paneling and English pub-style window tables, Garrison’s is also defined by its people—newcomers and regulars, all of whom are quick to pull you out a chair and ask your opinion about the latest news.

This place the best espresso in Harrisburg. I go here whenever I want to treat myself with some awesome coffee surrounded by great books. Soups are offered, too. See our complete food review and subscribe at http://www.examiner.com/x-36460-Harrisburg-Restaurant-Examiner~y2010m1d27-midtown-scholar

"What goes best with a good book and a cup of coffee? Homemade vegetarian soup, apparently! The Midtown Scholar, committed to enriching minds through its used-and-rare academic bookstore, is also committed to feeding the stomach..."

We LOVE Nonna's! It's a location where we talk every family member and friend who visits Harrisburg. See full review and suggestions on our food critic website, linked below.

"Nonna’s Delisioso! is a small Midtown restaurant with an Italian café feel that offers a variety of unique sandwiches alongside classic pasta combinations. Warm, classy, and unpretentious, this restaurant is BYOB and suitable for singles, couples, and small groups..."

When she closed her 2nd St. shop in July, I was devastated; where was I going to get a good cup of coffee in the morning? Then she re-opened 3rd St. just a few doors away I was ecstatic. Well, o.k. maybe ecstatic is a little strong, but it's the closest word I can come up with. The best coffee, hands down, to be found in Harrisburg. Now she found a local baker who is just wonderful. Coffee and a pastry in the morning. Or two pastries. r maybe three.

Her coffees are single origin beans, not blends, save the occasional Mocha Java (not chocolate flavored garbage, genuine Mocha Java, which is a blend of Yemen and Java beans) and brewed with love for the best cup in town. Abandon hope all ye who enter here, for you will never be able to enjoy a (insert the name of your favorite chain coffee shop here)
