Just discovered this spot and love it already. I know I am going to start wishing they were open weekends.

I have gone here multiple times with friends on the weekend and, as much as I want to love it, I remain unimpressed and usually disappointed. The service is poor for how empty it usually is. My friend has asked for water on three different occasions and just got it for the first time on the the third visit. I usually have to say my order twice and was given stale chips on my last visit. Sadly, I don’t know if I’ll keep going back. The food is OK.

Stopped by for lunch recently. The food was interesting and adequate, but the slug (younger guy, bushy gotee) who was charged with taking our order left much to be desired. He was disinterested and appeared to be bothered. The guy who brought our food from the back was cheerful and pleasant. My guest will never return. I might.

I have gone to this place several times for carry out during my lunch hour. Each time, I received a soup that left out some of the main ingredients as advertised on the menu. And, what I did get after the major ingredients were left out, was usually so-so tasting soup which may not have been much better even if served as it was supposed to be. The staff seems disinterested in making sure the product is served properly and with quality. For instance, the tortilla soup w/ sour cream included no tortillas nor sour cream ( although they did throw a couple packs of saltine crackers into the bag). The “chili” with different kinds of onions was supposed to contain beef. No beef whatsoever and the “chili” was more like a very thin brothed vegetable type soup – not at all like the hearty chili one would expect. I also ordered a sandwich one time at their old location. The bread was mushy and not fresh tasting at all.

I’ve been hearing about the Soup Spot from friends and coworkers (all raved about it) and I finally made it down. I tell you that I’m glad I did. Reading the other comments, I don’t know what these other people are talking about, I absolutely LOVED it! First, the atmosphere was great and homey (decor is great retro feel and paintings/photos of local artist adorn the place), tiled bar looks great. Secondly, service was unexpectedly fun as the servers and even the owner constantly bantered with me and my friends, they were also extremely helpful in helping us choose our meals (they gave us tastes of EVERY SOUP!) Third, my meal was excellent(as were my friends). I had the Champagne salad (amazing!) the toasted almonds and fruit made this salad a star. My friends, as suggested by the server, had a Rajin Cajun sandwich on ciabatta and a Vegi-Melt. Both friends devoured their sandwiches but not before I could taste both, delicious and the bread was warm and fresh. Our soups, a turtle soup, lasagna soup and a Cornish Game hen soup were all hot and tasty. We were hesitant on the turtle but we all glad we got it, surprisingly yummy! Again, I have NO IDEA where these people ate but it wasn’t the Soup Spot we went to in Harrisburg. We will all definitely be back (with more friends and family)

I enjoy their soups but find their sandwiches and salads to be rather lacking and over priced for the poor quality you get.

  8. Cody Says:

The service was dreadful, the soup was fine, and the sandwich (grilled italian) was great.
